Dan Reis

“Empowerment and Experience”

Fitness has been a part of Dan’s life since he can remember. He’s been very sporty from a young age, when his main focus was set in handball which he played for many years until he moved to Jersey in 2006. Although being very sporty, Dan struggled with his weight management. He had records for being the heaviest kid in primary school and well into Year 9. This resulted in him having masses of curiosity around fitness and nutrition to solve the ‘mystery’ of his weight management, qualifying as a Personal Trainer (PT) soon after he completed his A levels in Jersey. His passion and dedication for coaching began as his career started in 2009, applying new knowledge and skills to his own situation and to his clients. This passion has grown more and more over the years as he matured and has seen/understood the true and positive impact that personal training can have on someone’s mental health and their quality of life.

Dan now has over 10 years’ experience of working in the fitness industry as a PT, developing a wide range of skills and knowledge by working with people from all walks of life, both face to face and online. He coaches clients involved in high level sports, people looking for fat loss and muscle gain, powerlifters and bikini and physique competitors. But often the biggest personal reward for Dan comes from helping clients who simply want to get fit and healthy and are fitting in training around busy work and family life.

Dan believes a smile and a positive attitude can make someone’s day that little bit better. He empathises with clients very well and listens without judgement. Dan makes what, for some, can be the ‘scary’ side of the gym environment, less daunting in the way he delivers his sessions and communicates with his clients with empowerment and motivation. Dan is also an MNU Certified Nutritionist.

Jo De La Mare

Listening and adapting to your needs”

Jo has a strong background in fitness having competed in gymnastics from a young age as well as swimming and springboard diving, representing Jersey in numerous Southern County Championships over the years before ’retiring’ in her late teens. At the age of 23, she joined the States of Jersey Police, and served front line for 12 years.

In 2012, Jo suffered a very painful back injury while snowboarding, dislocating both her coccyx and sacrum. The pain was immense, and she was unable to train in any form, even standing/walking was agony. Unable to do any exercise for two years, Jo was advised to stick to moderate walking and gentle swimming only. In 2014, Jo joined a gym and started doing some basic resistance circuits and classes, it hurt beyond belief, but she refused to give in! In January 2015, Jo decided to try personal training and it changed her life. She had gone from having a strong background as a gymnast and swimmer to hardly having any flexibility and struggling to put on her own shoes. She can’t begin to explain how much she has improved now, both physically and mentally, to the point of hardly experiencing any pain.

Over the years working as a police officer Jo developed a great set of communication and listening skills. Her clients benefit greatly from her ability to truly listen to their needs and goals, as well as always providing very logical and constructive advice that is drip fed at the right time and with the right intention. Jo is qualified in pre-and post-natal exercise too.
